Aim of the Scout Association

The Aim of The Scout Association is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. The Method of achieving the Aim is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law and guided by adult leadership.

Safety

The Scout Association has rules covering all activities, from meetings in the Church Hall to adventurous pursuits, in terms of leaders and supervision.
Adventurous activities such as water sports are subject to further safety precautions laid down by the Scout Association, and also by the relevant bodies e.g. Royal Yachting Association, British Canoe Union.
Scout Association regulations are widely acclaimed by many of these professional bodies.
Leaders of camps and pack holidays must hold relevant permits.
Only minibuses with seat belts and forward-facing seats are used by the Group.

Leadership

The Scout Association has its own training programme for leaders. Each Section is led by warranted leaders, with assistance from other adults, often parents, as Section Assistants. The adults all undergo Scout Association vetting and Disclosure Barring checks as part of the Child Protection policy of the Scout Association.  
All leaders are voluntary and unpaid.

Group Executive Committee

The Committee is made up of Parent representatives and Supporters who are elected at the AGM. It is responsible for organising the AGM of the Group and all Parents are encouraged to attend. The Committee also organises the fund-raising events and also social activities.
If you require any information about any Section or have any concerns, you are encouraged to approach one of the leaders in the appropriate Section. You are also welcome to speak to any member of the Committee.

Finance

The Group is financed by Subscriptions and fund-raising events. The Annual Subscription is used to cover the amount which the Group must pay to the Scout Association whilst  term subscriptions payable at Section level cover the general running costs of that Section.
Fund-raising events are held to pay for major expenditure and subsidising activities. 
Your help in running  fund-raisers is very much appreciated, and obviously the more volunteers we have, the less individuals have to do.
The Group has a policy that no child should be excluded from an event due to personal financial difficulties. Arrangements for assistance can be made through confidential discussions with either the Section Leader or the Group Treasurer.
